We are drawn to nonfiction that rings with emotional and intellectual honesty. We look for insight brought about by evocative imagery, deft language, and narrators who work past easy answers. We especially love writing that offers a unique sense of humor. To us, part of the power of nonfiction resides in its use of reality to reach larger truths, and we admire writers who embrace this challenge. We receive mostly personal essays rooted in narrative, but we also encourage you to share your meditative, lyric, and satiric work, as well as your literary journalism, memoir, and hybrid forms. We aim for a blend of brevity and expansiveness, publishing work that ranges from 250 to 4,000 words. Whether you’re seeking your first, fiftieth, or five-hundredth publication, we look forward to reading your work.
